While a good fantasy plot with potential and intriguing character development throughout the book, there was something lacking I can't quite put a finger on.
The predictable twist of Celeste's betrayal
The secret shared bond between Isla & Grim
Oro ~falling in love~ with Isla (I mean Duh)
Isla's guardians being against her from the jump
Isla having powers all along (surprise!)
The random betrayal from Azul (out of GRIEF????? naw come on)
Cleo being a literal "ice queen" .... YAWN!
While there were genuine moments of shock during a few of the twists, and my genuine inability to put the book down for the last 50 pages with my mouth unhinged in a very un-ladylike manner..... Overall, It was okay.
I will probably read book 2 with higher hopes for a stronger continued story (Grim redemption arc? :D )

The book is just so amazing. Chef's kiss! 💕 I am so broke rn, but for my love for books, I bought it anywa 😆
The book is neatly packed with no crucial damage. I've been meaning to order this, and now I've finally done it! Thanks, Seller, for putting this book in your shop. I highly recommend this shop for all book readers out there.
I'll make sure to order more and book three once it's released. I've said it once, and I'll say it again: This shop is my favorite!
PS: I was curious of the plastic thing in the book, so I kind of take it off, but not completely. Should I take it off completely? It looked good and clearer to me 🤷🏻♀ But I'm afraid if it might get damaged, so I'm going to cover it with a plastic cover (like I always do).
The last 100 pages

May 30, 2024I picked this book up when I first started getting back into reading. I thought it was a mild YA fantasy with a decent plot idea of multiple worlds and trials that would end up in a death.
I struggled to get into this book as the world-building and understanding the trials took some time to comprehend. Do not let that discourage you. Lightlark makes up for it in the plot twist I personally did not see coming. After completing the last 100 pages of Lightlark, I changed my perception of this book and rated it a 4 star read.
Immediately picked up Nightbane after completing this book.
I still think about the plot twist months/years on.
outstanding book!
