Horrible features, slow, awful features & quality

This has been the absolute worst printer I have ever owned in my entire life. I recently switched from a HP printer that was about four years old because it recently stopped working, I was never a fan of that printer until I purchased this garbage machine. The software limitations were the first thing that I noticed about this printer, I wanted to make double sided copies and I figure perfect, it has an automatic document feeder. I was very wrong about this; to make double-sided copies, the internal printer software will only let you use the flatbed. What happens when you need to make copies of something that is 25 page double sided? You need to copy each page one by one and flip every individual page and the same goes for any scanning functionality as well. The printer itself can print double-sided pages, but then it is unable to make copies of the same thing that it just printed. I didn’t really think anything about this feature because my older HP printer I could run it through the ADF and then I would simply run it through again so it would receive every orientation and make a copy accordingly. The positive attribute of this printer is how it saves on ink, but honestly, that is nothing because the print quality is horrible. I really wish I had not purchased this machine.
Everything we need in an All-In-One, inexpensively

Just like our other, much older, Brother All-In-One (on our recreation-related desktop,) this newer one (on our work desktop) is performing as well as a pre-retirement workplace HP. What's more, the cost of ink is a fraction of the HP inks, with no loss of quality.
Setup is a breeze, online updates are available, but are easily set to first ask permissions to do so - a control feature which I like to have, although I will likely opt for updates regularly.
We have only used the new Brother for a bit over a month, but our older one has been used for more than ten years. That's dinosaur age for such devices. They can't even be found to purchase new any more. Thankfully, some alternative ink cartridges still sell online for it.
That brings up the point that the basic ink cartridges which came with the original purchase of the new printer have lasted surprisingly long. We print dozens of pages with color graphics every week, and still have half or better of the ink quantity remaining.
There may be others who find much more expensive and professional level printing to be a must, but for us, everything we need from an All-In-One is well-met with this Brother model.
[Rewarded Review] Worst Printer Ever

I purchased the Brother INKvestment Tank MFC-J4335 WIRELESS inkjet AIO Color Printer April 30, 2023; for home use and it’s been a problem since day one. Initially It was a problem getting it setup but I finally did. I wished I used it more during the first 90 days of purchased and I would have returned it. I’ve experienced way too many printing issues every-time I’ve used it. Most of the documents that I print are from my brand new computer to this brand new printer and the color quality it prints is faded gray instead of black. I’ve had to adjust the color printing several times so a document color doesn’t look anything but black. I’ve had to clean the printer heads at least 10/times and I haven’t printed 150 copies of anything since I’ve owned this printer. That’s nowhere near 5000 copies /or a years worth of printing that I s/b getting with these liquid ink cartridges. (This was one of the selling points, that swayed me in my purchase of this printer.). I don’t have to print anything everyday, so I’m not using my printer sometimes no more than a couple weeks each month or less. So when it appeared the Ink had dried up I was really upset. But, I went through every possible issue to trouble shoot and fix the problem only to get temporary relief. As other printing issues appeared. More trouble shooting to correct those issues has been a true headache. This can not be normal. Got frustrated, so I went and purchased more ink. Very expensive to purchase 4/Ink cartridges only to be experiencing the same poor printing quality issues. I have been using the printer more in the last two months and still having printing issues every time I turn it on. Paper jams, light printing, faded pages, words appear squiggly throughout the document as if the pages where in crook. Some pages would be half printed and/or it would be half faded. Some documents with lines throughout. This has been the worst printer I’ve used /purchased. I have 8/cartridges (2/ of each color $$$ with ink in them) that’s going to waste because the print quality of this model is so horrible. It’s truly been a nightmare. I spend more time trying to print off a document after having typed it. Now it’s showing it’s not connected to the internet /wifi and it is. I’ve gone through all the trouble shooting problems and I’m just at my wits end. I’ve done more printer trouble shooting than printing. This was truly a wasted purchase for me.
[Rewarded Review] So far it exceeds my expectations

I bought this to replace an 11 year old Brother MFC-J835DW that had finally become unreliable. I was unsure about buying this model after reading reviews on the mega online marketplace named after a South American jungle. Some complained that the print quality was poor, some that it was hard on ink, some that the supplied ink was so little that they couldn't even get through print setup without running out of ink. When I saw that a couple people said they had received refurbished units, it sealed my decision to buy from a reputable store, which also happens to be one of my all time favorites, B&H.

Now, about the printer. All those nasty things I saw in the reviews are likely due to the vendor shipping refurbished units as new. My experience is all positive.

This printer is just a tiny bit wider and taller than the old one, but not quite as deep, so it actually fits better in constrained space of my printer cabinet.

Here are my impressions after about a month with it. Assume that I am comparing it with my old MFC-J835DW, which I would describe as just okay at everything like print, speed, photo, copy, paper handling, etc., but great reliability with a proven 10 year record.

1) I like it and find it to be an excellent replacement for the old printer. It does everything better (except cannot print on CD/DVD).

2) It looks better, has a solid build, and simple to use controls. It does not have a touch screen, which doesn't mean much to me.

3) Print quality is notably improved. Some say it could be a bit darker, but is more than good enough for my needs. I have not seen any banding on large fill areas. I have not yet printed a photo, as that is a rare need for me. My bet is that too is better.

4) It is significantly faster at everything it does. Printing, duplex printing, scanning, and paper feed for scanning.

5) The paper feeder handles paper better (in addition to being faster). It has less tendency to jam on gnarly paper.

6) It is quieter. It does make noise, but a bit less.

7) The ink tanks are much larger and do seem to hold a lot more ink that prints a bunch more pages. I've barely dented the amount of ink from the tanks that came with it. At this rate it will last at least 6-months and probably closer to a year of moderate+ regular use.

8) Connecting to the WiFi was painless. The Win 10 and Win 11 PCs found it without issue. The Android phones found it without issue. The Win 10/11 print drivers work great. The Android Mobile Connect app works great and allows me to do duplex printing from the phone.

9) The paper try holds more paper and is just as simple to use. The one downside is that it no longer holds both photo and sheet papers, so you have to empty and switch. That isn't a problem for me.

10) It can feed paper from the back for oversize printing. Paper jams are simple to clear (had a wrinkled sheet that didn't go through). It is very similar to the old printer, so no surprises there.

No comment on reliability except that it has now been a month and we are really liking it. Thanks to B&H for always selling the genuine article and at a good price.
