Christian Louboutin Is Launching Mascara, Eyeliner, And Brow Pencils
They're as chic as you'd imagine.
First came the nail polishes so statuesque that they double as weapons. Then came the rich lipsticks and slick glosses packaged in a pointy amulet, intended to be hung from your neck like ancient Egyptian royalty. So it was only a matter of time before Christian Louboutin redefined what mascara, eyeliner, and brow pencils could look like. Launching this month, the eye products in the new Les Yeux Noirs collection are impeccably designed, sure, but they're also pigmented, long-wearing, and worth the eye-popping sticker shock.
Les Yeux Noirs Amplifying Mascara
Once you get over the drama of the studded black and gold packaging—which feels as weighty and luxe as it looks—you discover a mascara that's truly just as decadent. Inky and black, the lacquer-like formula paints every lash while the nylon brush lifts and sharply defines. It's ideal for creating buildable volume with length, but you'll still need to use a lash curler.

A good brow pencil should apply both sharply and smoothly, leaving behind tiny, hair-like flicks that last all day. It sounds easy enough to find, until you look in the mirror at lunchtime to discover that half your eyebrow is now on your forehead. These Louboutin brow pencils leave behind a natural finish that are essentially smudge-proof once you've traced them on (we just wish they came in a wider range of shades—they're that good).

Oeil Vinyle Luminous Ink Liner
Black liquid liner devotees have impossible expectations. A good liner needs to be blacker than black, have a foolproof brush for flicks and cat-eyes, and last unsmudged until you're standing over the sink at the end of the night. We hear you, and we raise you this: a black liner that is essentially the next best thing to a tattoo. The lacquer-like formula takes some oil cleanser (and elbow grease) to remove—but our cat-eyes have never been more fierce.
Christian Louboutin turned once again to ancient Egypt for design inspiration. "The designer delved further into the symbolism of ancient Egypt– a place and culture that constantly feeds his imagination—for the creation of the remarkable packaging: the Egyptian motifs of lotus flower petals and obelisks meld with Art Deco geometry to create these modern objets d'arts," says a statement from the brand.

One look at this bottle left us profoundly confused. Is it another nail polish? A lip product? No—it's a red liquid eyeliner, and it couldn't have come at a better time. Eyeshadow and liner in all shades of crimson have been trending on the spring and fall 2017 runways, and there's arguably no red hue as iconic as Louboutin Red.

Oeil Velours Velvet Eye Definer
It's not in the designer's DNA to simply launch eyeliners in shades of black, blackish, and blacker. "Christian wanted to capture the opulent decorative style of India, as seen in Kathakali, a form of classical Indian dance. The dancers are known for their extravagant makeup, including elaborately drawn eyes, bringing attention to their dramatic eye movements and expressions, which are integral aspects of the dance," says a statement from the brand. "The country's rich culture and colours translated to products luxuriously saturated with rich pigments for the purest and deepest impact." Hence there's one black shade and one auburn, plus a canary yellow, plum, peacock blue.
