Trinidad & Tobago: No confidence motion against opposition’s Keith Rowley to be debated this week
A motion of no confidence against Trinidad & Tobago opposition leader Keith Rowley will be debated on Wednesday.
According to the twin-island republic’s Housing Ministerl, the motion of no confidence will be debated on Wednesday this week.
At a United National Congress party meeting 3 weeks ago, Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissesar revealed that a motion of no confidence would be filed against Rowley in parliament for his failure to disclose that David West, who became head of the Police Complaints Authority, was a witness for him in a defamation case against him filed by former attorney general Anand Ramlogan – a conflict of interest.
West has alleged Ramlogan attempted to get him to remove his witness statement in the defamation case against Rowley. Following the allegations, Persad-Bissessar fired Ramlogan and former national security minister Gary Griffith.
