As the seasons change so must our bags. Dreams of wicker and net bags are left behind with the departure of summer; but these handbags can get you through the transition.

Louis Vuitton keeps releasing models under the New Wave collection. As featured before, the 80s inspired $2,270 cross-body bags have wave-like grooves in the leather that resemble the ocean, and are now available in Malibu Green or Rose Freesia pink. But as handbags tend to increase in size once fall arrives, Louis Vuitton released a $2,680 tote bag in similar style but in neutral colors including black, white and red.

Another fall trend: plaids and animal prints. Michael Kors used two-in-one in the $2,150 Simone Tartan and Leopard top-handle bag, where the red plaid bag is finished off with the contrasting animal print serving as a front pocket. This print-heavy statement bag would pair well with a neutral-colored outfit or LBD.

For a $348 on-the-go animal print option, Rebecca Minkoff’s Isabel shoulder bag sits close to the hip and is finished with a mustard-colored leather and adorned with a yellow flap made of embossed leather resembling snakeskin. The bag also comes in a white-and-black color combination that is easier to pair with everyday outfits.

As Chanel inches closer to the release of its Resort 2019 collection, Karl Lagerfeld is determined to take us right back into summer. The runway’s large faux ship placed in Le Grand Palais, Paris, was named La Pausa, after Coco Chanel’s summer house in the South of France. The collections included handbags in many forms, including wristlets, pouch bags and cross-bodies. Some bags had heavier prints than others, while some were neutral with a touch of vibrancy in color. One of the standouts was the cross-body nautical life-preserver bag with the words “Chanel” and “La Pausa” written along its borders. The bag comes in various shades and resembles the Minaudiere bag available in stores now. The collection will be available in Chanel boutiques starting Oct. 31.
